A second language test option for French-Speaking permanent residents to apply for Canada PR. The migrants who are seeking permanent residency of Canada are in- for a surprise! The Government of Canada is now accepting the results of a new test as proof of language ability for French-speaking economic immigration candidates applying for permanent residence.

This new French test is none other than Test de connaissance du français pour le Canada (TCF Canada) that will be acceptable by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada including the programs managed by the Federal Express Entry System.

The update was made as part of Canada’s 2018 National Francophone Immigration Week that celebrates the contributions of francophone immigrants to Canada whose official languages are English and French.

This test will have four mandatory tests: Oral Comprehension, Written Comprehension, Oral Expression and Written Expression. The time duration of test will be 2 hours 47 minutes and the test result will be valid for two years.

TCF Canada is administered by the French Government-run Centre International d’études pédagogiques (CIEP) to test the French language proficiency of the applicant applying for Canadian Permanent Residence. This test is available at approved test centres in Canada and more than 150 countries.

Check Your Language Eligibilty Score

The CEIP says the TCF Canada is designed to correspond with the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC)’s recognized French Language Standards, the Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (NCLC).

The TCF Canada is the second approved French Language Proficiency test after TEF Canada that candidates can take to prove their language ability for the skilled migration programs namely Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trade Program (FSTP) and the Canadian Experience Class (TCEC).

The applicants applying through FSW program must demonstrate language proficiency in English or French that is equivalent to a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) or NCLC.

Though, English Speaking candidates need not require providing French Test results unless they are claiming French language ability score points.

This is definitely good news for the migrants who are looking forward to take French Language Test, now they do have the option to write French Test in which they feel most comfortable.
