To be able to apply for the express entry program, you must have a minimum of 67 points out of 100.

A points-based system is used by Canada Express Entry to categorize people who want to immigrate there. Clients receive points according to a Comprehensive Ranking System, or CRS. An applicant's points are determined by their qualifications, experience, job position in Canada, and province or territorial nomination. The likelihood of receiving an invitation to apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residency increases with increasing point totals.

Every Express Entry draw has a minimum cut-off score determined by the Express Entry points system. These draws take place on a regular basis. An ITA will be sent to candidates whose CRS score is equal to or higher than the cut-off level. If more than one applicant has a score that is equal to the cut-off score, the ITA will be given to the applicant who has spent the most time in the Express Entry pool.
