PNPs that have been enhanced are listed by province. The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) of Canada was established to welcome low-income immigrants to the country.

The PNP is the major economic-class immigration program for this year and the following year, according to the Immigration Levels Plan 2022-2024. In past years, Express Entry was the most popular immigration route.

Except for Nunavut and Quebec, almost every province and territory has its own PNP. At least one immigration stream in each country is linked to the Express Entry system.

How enhanced PNPs work

An upgraded PNP is one that has been aligned with Express Entry.

Candidates must first be eligible for one of the Express Entry-managed programs, such as the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Canadian Experience Class (CEC), or the Federal Skilled Trades Program, in order to receive an enhanced PNP.

The province may send an invitation to apply for a provincial nomination to an Express Entry candidate who meets the PNP's eligibility standards. An Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residency is not the same as a nomination. Candidates reply to the invitation by submitting a nomination application to the province.

Express Entry candidates who successfully get a nomination from an enhanced PNP will have 600 CRS points added to their base score, effectively ensuring that they will receive an ITA in a subsequent Express Entry round of invitations.

PNP qualifying criteria, in general, include things like work experience, education, and language proficiency. Affordable settlement funds and a desire to relocate to the nominating province are frequently required. Here's a rundown of Canada's upgraded PNPs, along with descriptions of some of the characteristics that may qualify you for each.

Ontario

Human Capital Priorities

Under Ontario's Human Capital Priorities Stream, Express Entry candidates who are eligible for either the FSWP or the CEC may be invited. Rounds of invitations will be held by the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP), inviting possibly qualified Express Entry candidates to submit for a nomination. Candidates with work experience in particular in-demand occupations may be targeted for these draws. Ontario inaugurated Tech Draws in 2019, where the province invites people with job experience in six in-demand tech occupations on a regular basis.

Skilled Trades Stream

The Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream in Ontario is a route for skilled trades individuals who have worked in a qualifying trade. Candidates must have at least one year of full-time paid work experience in one of the National Occupational Classification (NOC) system's Minor Group 633 or Major Group 72, 73, or 82 occupations.

Candidates must also reside in Ontario and have a valid work permit. Candidates must have a licence or certification from the Ontario College of Trades in addition to other requirements.

French-Speaking Skilled Worker

Candidates for the FSWP and CEC who have high French and English skills may be eligible for nomination through the French-Speaking Skilled Worker stream. It is not necessary to be in Ontario at the time of application, but you must show that you intend to stay in the province.

Conclusion

Enhanced PNPs allow Express Entry candidates to jump to the front of the line for an ITA while also supporting provincial demographic and economic growth plans. A provincial nomination can make all the difference for some.
