Justin Trudeau, the prime minister of Canada, has announced the formation of a new task force to address the nation's mounting immigration backlog.

This new task force will help direct the work of the government to better meet the changing needs of Canadians and continue to provide them with the high-quality services they need and deserve, Trudeau said. "We know service delays, particularly in recent months, are unacceptable. We will continue to do everything we can to improve the delivery of these services in an efficient and timely manner.

The task force, which is made up of Cabinet ministers, will examine how services are provided, spot any gaps or potential areas for improvement, and offer suggestions to guarantee that Canadians get the best possible care.

The task force will identify areas that require urgent action in order to expedite the processing of immigration applications.

According to Aidan Strickland, press secretary for the Office of the Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship, "IRCC is moving toward a more connected, streamlined, and centralized working environment to help speed up application processing globally."
