The World Happiness Report 2018, released in March showcased Australia as the happiest country in the world. Australia was ranked 10th happiest country out of 156 countries which were a part of the study. The study also found that most of the happiest countries in the world have a higher proportion of migrants.

The higher proportion of migrants is keenly visible in Australia with around 50 percent of its citizens either born in foreign countries or had one or both of their parents born abroad.

Furthermore, it is also indicated that the migrants of certain countries are happier than the migrants of other countries. People who have moved to Australia, New Zealand, and UK are among the most contended migrants.

The researchers states that, immigration is beneficial to countries where migrants are received in a welcoming and friendly manner which further helps them in better integration with the environment and society as whole.

The World Happiness Report 2018 was also quoted by The Sydney Morning Herald saying that countries, which have more accommodating attitude towards migrants, benefits as it is a win-win situation for both the new comers and its residents.

According to Gallup’s new Migrant Acceptance Index, which evaluates the response of general public to migrants from around the world, found that out of 140 countries, Australia ranks seven as the world’s most welcoming country. The report also showed that the new migrants are more optimistic in the immigrant-friendly countries as compared to the less friendly immigrant countries.

This happened for the very first time that the World Happiness Report 2018 ranked countries as per the happiness of their migrants, along with the general survey which they usually take of the entire population.

The survey found that the migrant population of Australia had been ranked the sixth happiest in the world, surpassing its overall rank 1oth rank number on the world’s happiness table.

Thus, if you wish to travel or immigrate Australia, then this is the right time to plan your course of action. One cannot miss the opportunity to travel to one of the world’s happiest destination.
