Canada is a major country for new immigrants from Pakistan. In 2021, more than 8,400 Pakistanis moved to Canada. It makes Pakistan the tenth-largest source country overall for Canada. It is also one of the top 20 source countries for international students, approximately 3,400 students came to Canada in 2021. Pakistan was the fourth most popular country of citizenship for invited Express Entry candidates in 2020.

It has been seen that a sizable Pakistani community majority of the Pakistani immigrants live in Ontario, particularly in Toronto, Vancouver, and on the west coast.

Depending on your situation in Pakistan, there are several options for moving to Canada. The best way to immigrate to Canada will be determined entirely by your objectives. There are over 100 economic immigration pathways available. Choosing the right one is like finding the correct key to the lock. We will focus on some of the most popular permanent residence pathways as well as a few temporary residence options that will help you get to Canada with your chances of a successful immigration story.

1. Express Entry:

Express Entry is the federal government’s application management system for Federal High Skilled immigration candidates. After the submission of the Express Entry profile, the federal government determines whether the candidate is eligible for a program managed by Express Entry. Candidates who are eligible are accepted into the Express Entry pool and are ranked using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). The CRS is a point-based system used by the government to evaluate the profile and rank candidates. The CRS score is determined by a candidate's age, education, work experience, and language skills, among other factors.

The Canadian government selects the highest-scoring candidates from the Express Entry pool and sends them an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence for which you have 60 days to respond with a complete application for Canadian immigration from Pakistan.

There are 3 immigration programs managed through Express Entry:

a. Canadian Experience Class

  • for skilled workers who have Canadian work experience
  • work experience must have been gained in the 3 years before you apply

b. Federal Skilled Worker Program

  • for skilled workers with foreign work experience
  • must meet criteria for education and other factors

c. Federal Skilled Trades Program

  • for skilled workers who are qualified in a skilled trade
  • must have a valid job offer or a certificate of qualification

2. Provincial Nominee Program:

Another popular immigration route, the PNP, provides permanent residency opportunities for people who can support regional labour market priorities. The PNP gives Canadian provinces the ability to design their own immigration programs. They could be fine-tuned to better meet the needs of Canadian provinces and territories. Except for Nunavut and Quebec, almost all of Canada's provinces and territories participate in the program. Instead, the province of Quebec has its own immigration program.

Each PNP has at least one immigration stream that is compatible with the federal Express Entry system. Provincial nominations issued through these Express Entry-aligned streams are referred to as 'enhanced nominations.' The advantages of enhanced PNP streams are that they provide Express Entry candidates with an additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points, essentially guaranteeing them a permanent residence invitation under Express Entry.

If you receive a provincial nomination through one of these PNPs, your overall score will be increased by 600 CRS points. This award will propel you to the top of the pool, setting you up to be invited to apply for permanent residence in a subsequent Express Entry draw.
